Initial thoughts for the above door piece: We believed that this piece was originally above a door in some sort of building and is roman in origin. The whole piece is very symmetrical and gives a sense of movement to the story being depicted, which we believed could have been the story of celebration after the deities cut up Kronos. We noticed 3 different hybrid creatures. A Chimera is laying in the middle-right of the piece, two Cherubs are flying on the left hand side, and a Satyr or Pan is seen on the right hand side of the depiction. We also found a centaur over top of the piece in what looks like symmetrical bubbles. We also noticed that all the characters are intermingling and that Hera and Zeus are in the center and debated whether or not Aphrodite was in the corner.
