This is a lion mosaic. Our initial thought is that it is a very large piece, and the small tiles are fairly easy to see solidifying that it is a mosaic. It could be displayed on a wall because of its size and intricate detail, and it appears to be in okay shape. There are pieces missing however, so it could also be a floor piece. The lion appears to have a goat head out its back, and althought we can not remember the specific name for the creature depicted, however we know that it was significant to the Middle East. The lion itself appears to be on the offensive or defensive, meaning it is either attacking or being attacked.
