This is a piece of a roof tile that decorated the edge of a roof of a building. The head of medusa was believed to ward off evil. This is why it was featured in the center of the 3 wings that was used as a shield cover, here we see the head of Medusa placed as protection on a roof of a building. This medusa head looks very similar to the one on the shield cover, and was made around the same time. This roof tile is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of New York.
